Electric Boilers

Electric heating continues to be the most popular form of heating in new single-family houses. It is easy to use and cost-efficient form of heating, because it does not require any expensive investments or complicated maintenance measures.

There are several alternatives available for the implementation of electric heating. The most common form of electric heating, with the most advantageous investment costs, is direct electric heating where the distribution of heat is carried out in most cases by means of electric radiators or underfloor heating system. In this case, a water heater is needed for domestic hot water, and its size and output are selected according to the need (Jäspi VLK, VLM and VLS). The energy efficiency of a house with direct electric heating can easily be improved by means of a solar water heater (Jäspi Solar 300) or an inverter air heat pump (JÄMÄ Saturnus, Jupiter and Mars).

Electric heating based on the distribution of heat with water circulation is more expensive than the previous option, however, a more versatile option. The advantages of central heating with water circulation include the ease of chaging the source of heating energy and the possibility of connecting different sources of energy in parallel. In new properly insulated single-family houses the heat losses and energy consumption are reasonably low. In this case, it is reasonable to obtain heating devices with inexpensive initial investments, using electricity only according to the needs of the given time (Jäspi Tehowatti).

If the aim is to keep the initial investment costs low, however, preserving at the same time the possibility of using renewable energy technology effectively (e.g. solar /heat pump), the versatile Jäspi Ecowatti suits excellently to be used as the heating device. The traditional charging electric heating option always is an alternative worth considering, if there is less expensive tariff electricity available, and if the aim is to connect several different forms of energy to the heating system.

The prevailing night tariff practice is in the future developing that way that the less expensive tariff electricity will be available also in daytime outside of the peak periods. It is easy to connect for example wood, solar or heat pump heating to the heating realized by means of a thermal storage tank. Forms of electric heating equipped with heat pumps have rapidly become more common during the last few years, because a heat pump reduces the need for energy. Electricity (or another form of energy), however, is always needed for supporting heating. The heat pump should be selected according to the purpose of use.
